The Role
As the Volunteer Engagement and Connectivity Manager, your primary role will be to lead our global efforts to recruit, onboard, and connect volunteer businesspeople to local community institutions in our network. We are looking for someone with experience in relationship and project management who able to connect well with people, provide excellent customer service and collaborate with a diverse team in building strategy, while also managing internal process development, administration and implementation. The Work
- Steward and expand volunteer engagement: Facilitate and drive collaboration between PW's global partnership and advancement teams in shaping and advancing our core strategy for volunteer recruitment, engagement, and impact.
- Ensure excellent volunteer onboarding: Ensure volunteers across the network experience high-quality onboarding and equipping. Lead volunteer onboarding calls, manage online orientation courses, and make sure follow-up happens well and on time. Train and equip fellow advancement and regional partnership staff to do the same.
- Connect volunteers to meaningful partnerships: Build both strong relationships across the organization and effective systems to ensure the needs of partner organizations and partnerships are effectively identified and matched with volunteers who can serve those needs well.
- Grow and diversify the volunteer network: Develop strategies to grow existing and new volunteer groups. Work with regional teams, as well as marketing and communications colleagues to promote volunteer opportunities and create resources tailored to different volunteer groups. Support network wide strategic alliances with universities, companies, and other partners.
- Own volunteer operations and data: Oversee and improve the systems behind volunteer operations, including Salesforce records, quarterly surveys and volunteer-hour tracking, and use what the data shows to guide next steps.
- Deepen volunteer engagement: Design communications, learning opportunities and initiatives that help volunteers serve more effectively, connect with one another and deepen their involvement with the mission.
Your Qualifications:
- A customer focus that puts volunteers' needs and experience first, and a passion for building community among them.
- 5+ years of relationship management with individuals (donors, volunteers, etc), diverse teams and strategic external partners; building trust-based, long-term relationships that go beyond the transactional.
- A track record of growing a pipeline: identifying segments, expanding networks through referrals and introductions, and building strategic alliances.
- Experience designing engagement experiences that help participants feel part of the mission and that recognize each person's contribution.
- Strategic thinking: you can set long-term goals with regional teams that align with PW's mission, and keep short-term efforts serving them.
- 5+ years of project management, with strong planning and organizational skills to set clear goals, manage competing priorities and deadlines, and execute with excellence and attention to detail.
- Confidence using CRM and data (e.g., Salesforce, surveys, volunteer-hour tracking) accurately and strategically to spot trends, gaps and opportunities.
- Cross-cultural sensitivity: experience working in cross-cultural contexts or with culturally diverse team is highly preferred, and an ability to be flexible, curious and inclusive when engaging volunteers and partners from diverse backgrounds.

- This position is preferably based in Grand Rapids, MI, but remote within the United States or in other locations where PW operates may be considered.
- This is a full-time position, with essential hours of availability for global coordination from 8am to noon EST.
